Professor Julianne Lynch, MSET-Ed researcher, is part of a multi-disciplinary team at Deakin University making it easier for students in regional secondary schools to learn STEM through hands-on experiences. The Geelong Advertiser’s journalist, Eileen Kenny, recently reported on the team’s creation of an educational communications platform ‘RoboCom’. The platform allows students to control real lab equipment remotely and undertake practical experiments. The team, led by Dr Van Thanh Huynh from Deakin’s School of Engineering, includes Associate Professor Zoran Najdovski from Deakin Institute for Intelligent Systems, Professor Julianne Lynch from the Centre of Research for Educational Impact and PhD candidate Riley Bain. The team is working towards scaling up the platform to enable students and teachers across different geographical locations to collaborate in online STEM labs.
