Professional Learning

Our researchers work regularly with educators in school classrooms and other settings on research that has a practical impact on educational practice.

These include short workshops, workshop series, accredited courses, and tailored professional learning partnerships for schools and/or teacher networks. We focus on contemporary understandings of quality learning and on innovative delivery.

Upskill your science teaching expertise

The microcredential is a self-paced short course designed to upskill both in-field and out-of-field secondary science teachers. The short course is a condensed version of the Department of Education (Victoria) funded Graduate Certificate of Secondary Science (GCSS) developed by Deakin University which ran for 5 years (2020-2024).

The micro-credential is a self-paced, asynchronous course with an assessment component highly relevant for classroom teachers (developing a teaching and learning sequence). Five modules: biology, chemistry, earth and space science and physics are available. The cost of the course is $1375.

This course is also useful for teachers of upper primary science.
