STEME Education Research Group launches Professional Learning program at STAVCON

STAVCON was held at La Trobe Uni on Friday 29th  November 2019 and Russell and Peta launched the STEME PL Hub to a full room of interested science teachers.

With standing room only we showcased the STEME Education Research Group research program depth and breadth and outlined how we research in partnership with schools.  The key point was that there are many useful and interesting outcomes from our research and we are launching a new Professional learning Hub that will make these findings available to teachers.

The session included an embodied demonstration from our maths/science interdisciplinary research – with a rate walk activity where 5 members of the audience demonstrated their ability to walk 6 meters in 6 seconds… we then demonstrated how you can use this activity to develop understandings about motion across primary and secondary year levels.

Several teachers signed up for more information… and to hear about the first PL session – Assessing Science Inquiry Skills to be held at Burwood on the 12th December 1 – 4.30pm, $150.  If you are interested in coming along, please email peta.white@deakin.edu.au
